Dr. Heidi of Calypso Eastern Medicine

Dr. Heidi is Nationally Board Certified in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine and licensed to practice in California, and specializes in Facial Acupuncture and Root cause Internal Medicine.

Growing up on the Big Island of Hawaii, she had a deep reverence for nature, the healing arts, and energy medicine. As a child with unexplained nutritional deficiencies and health issues, her mother and grandparents always made sure to teach her about food and health. Throughout high school, she missed a record high amount of days due to respiratory illness and period pain. When she was 18, her grandmother gifted her a library of natural healing books from East Asian Medicine and western doctors that had found food to be one of the main sources of disease. From then on, she has been on the natural health journey to heal and teach others how to heal their bodies by using food first. Her grandmother always talked fondly about how acupuncture healed her chest scars post surgery back in the 1980s. After trying Acupuncture on a dare to try it, she fell in love with the medicine and signed up for a 4 year acupuncture program two months later. In Acupuncture school, she fell in love with Facial Acupuncture and it became a passion of hers and a dream to share it with the world at large.

After finishing acupuncture school, her house flooded while interning with Dr. Humiston, the toxic mold and candida specialist of San Diego. Expecting to be ready to start a practice with all her post graduate energy, she experienced feeling the sickest she had ever felt in her life. She started working at the Center for Health and Wellbeing as a practitioner where each patient had 3-10 practitioners monitoring their progress and metrics with some of the top functional medicine practitioners in San Diego. This insight and experience working with Chinese medicine and functional medicine changed her view on the future of medicine and potential of healing others with extra care and seeing labs with using chinese medicine. She created a 5 room medical spa, Gem & Tonic with 13 practitioners in 2019 and focused on detoxification and collaborative healthcare from 2019-2022. in 2023, she left San Diego, transitioned the business, and moved her practice to LA to bring Facial acupuncture and root cause internal medicine to the mainstream with the knowledge of collaboration and experience.
